WHAT WE LOVE
Having a naturally processed coffee that bursts with an irresistible bouquet of fruit is essential to Peaceful Valley Coffee. As a river flows through a valley, so do these coffees fulfill a vital function, with their traditional form of processing and indelible impression.
As such, upon tasting the Tanzania Utengele Natural, it was clear that this coffee’s particular flavors would emphatically make a welcome seasonal addition, amplifying our sense of time and place. A winey, sugar-rich interplay of strawberry, grape, and honey mimic the changing colors, heavier air, and mood of the trees. We are left with a mulling finish of spice and cocoa.
A storied depth of Tanzanian history flows through this coffee. Coffee cultivation at Utengele Estate began as far back as 1919! Located within the Mbeya region, the Utengele farms enjoy a situation amongst fertile, volcanic soils – the result of ancient tectonic activities. Unique microclimate ensures that the coffee is brimming with nuanced flavor. “Bourbon” botanical varieties, descendants of the Typica mother-plant, enliven a connection with the earliest iterations of the beverage.
